The Brief: 

The use of single-use plastic in Sri Lanka has caused, in most cases, irreversible damage to the environment. The Chamber of Commerce estimates that 41.6% of total plastic waste is thrown or dumped in public places or private lands. FEO, a trust that is managed by a passionate group of conservationists, reached out to Roar Studios to produce a video that would raise awareness on the importance of sustainable shopping.

Our Role:

Over the years, there have been many campaigns to educate Sri Lankans on the hazards of plastic usage and waste. The team at Roar Studios wanted to drive this message in a way that hasn’t been done before: using a humorous skit to tackle an otherwise serious issue. ‘Sustainability’ has become a mere buzzword; to communicate the message strongly, the video featured an actor, Devin, shopping at a supermarket in an unusual fashion. What drew the confused looks from supermarket staff and other customers in the end became a clever way to show our audience the ways in which they can be mindful when shopping.
